Comfort Colors garment-dyed crewneck — 9.5 oz of heavyweight fleece with a brushed cotton face. This is the one you steal back from whoever borrowed it.

Size up. We mean it. This one runs small — the maker says so, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. Order one size above your usual and you'll get the relaxed fit it was designed for. Order your normal size and it'll fit like a regular sweatshirt, which isn't the point.

Straight talk: at 9.5 oz this is the heaviest thing we make. Great for a boat at 6am, a bonfire, or the drive home when the AC is set by someone else. Not great for August.

Wash it cold, tumble low. Garment-dyed fleece can give up a little color the first time — that's the dye, not a defect, and it settles after one cycle.

Start here: this crewneck runs small, so size up from whatever you normally wear. If you're between sizes, size up twice before you size down once.

Width is the garment laid flat, so double it for the way around. Sleeve runs from the top of the shoulder seam to the cuff, which is why the numbers look long next to a t-shirt.

The reliable method: find a sweatshirt you already like the fit of, lay it flat, measure armpit to armpit, and match that to the Width column. Beats guessing every time.
